MUSIC TO ME IS -
A few words about my music
Music is not a passion, but a necessity. The feeling of being alive. Of stopping time. Of giving words to the unpronounceable. Of being one. Pure emotion. Art. Sometimes.
For me, music is always there — a constant presence in my mind. It is as essential as the air I breathe, the food that nourishes me, the love I give and receive. Music is one of the purest expressions of life and for me one of the keys to happiness.
Studying, composing and playing music brings me endless joy. It’s a space where I can be truly creative, where emotions take shape and thoughts become sound. A parallel space where the only reality is you and the music. By absorbing all your attention, it is a both grounding and transcendent experience, a sort of meditative escape.
Still, the most profound experience in jazz is playing with others – entering that wordless dialogue with musicians who share the same musical language.
Starting from the familiar ground of jazz standards and their harmonic progressions, something new takes shape each time: a moment of pure creative tension.
Jazz is not a genre, but an attitude — an open, exploratory way of making music through improvisation. It’s a constant conversation made of melodies, atmospheres and emotions, where listening is as essential as expressing.
The most powerful feeling I’ve known in music comes from those rare moments of true connection — when every phrase is answered instinctively and understanding goes beyond differences. That’s when something unforgettable is created.
Someone said it’s like making love and I believe that’s true: an intimate, unspoken exchange built on trust, presence and the profound sense of being understood – a constant give and receive.
EDUCATION & PERFORMANCE
A short introduction to my musical
journey through the years
Grown up in Berlin, I have been active in music since childhood, starting piano lessons at the age of six and singing in church choirs as well as school performances.
My musical journey began in 1998 at the renowned Berlin University of the Arts where I studied music pedagogy.
Under the guidance of Jutta Schlegel (voice), Marek Bobéth (piano), Martin Ripper (flute), Jolyon Brettingham-Smith and Bodo Bischoff (music theory) and Harald Schwarz (choir direction), I explored the foundations of classical and contemporary music education. Those formative years deepened not only my technical skills but also my passion for sharing music as a transformative language.
In 2000 I turned my focus to jazz and improvisation, studying at the Siena Jazz School with Roberto Nannetti and Mariano di Nunzio. There I refined my ear and embraced the freedom of expression that jazz allows. Over the years, I have continued to grow through masterclasses and workshops with artists such as Marco Tamburini, Cheryl Porter, Carl Verheyen, Greg Koch, Robben Ford and others — each encounter adding new colors to my palette.
Since 1998, I have been performing live in a wide variety of settings — clubs, theatres, festivals and cultural events.
These include appearances at the Orbetello Jazz Festival (curated by Alexanderplatz), the Villa Celimontana Festival in Rome, the Alexanderplatz Summer Edition in Monte Argentario and the Cantiere Musica in Anguillara. I’ve performed at Note di Montecucco in Campagnatico, the Festival del Giornalismo in Orbetello, the Disma Music Show in Rimini and Capalbio Libri alongside Tony Renis.
Other stages include the Low Key Festival in Porto Ercole, Terre di Maremma in Grosseto and a live appearance on Massimo Nunzi’s jazz radio show “Jazz a Nota Libera” with Lino Patruno. My performances have also brought me to venues such as Teatro Eliseo and Teatro Anfitrione in Rome, Teatro degli Unanimi in Arcidosso and Arte in Corso in Porto Santo Stefano, among many others.
Throughout this journey, music has remained my way of exploring, communicating, and connecting — a lifelong dialogue between learning and sharing.
